Taylor Selected APPY's Top Batter
Saturday, September 22nd, 2012: There was nobody hotter in the Appalachian League this season as Andrew Taylor attacked enemy pitching with a vengeance and came away with the APPY MVP for 2012.

The 22-year-old right fielder hit .476 while collecting 120 hits, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 29 home runs and 106 RBIs. He also scored 80 runs and posted a .521 on-base percentage.
APPY's #1 Pitcher is Ward
Friday, September 21st, 2012: The Bluefield clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Bob Ward will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2012 Appalachian League APPY Pitcher of the Year.

Ward made 21 starts this year, winning 15 and losing 1. He threw 125.1 innings, fanned 125, allowed 90 hits and 15 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .197 average as he logged an impressive 1.44 ERA.
APPY Names Gold Glove Choices for 2012
Thursday, September 20th, 2012: What does it take to win a Gold Glove? It's a combination of good hands, knowing how to play the hitters, all-out hustle and a willingness to sacrifice your body to make a play. Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Appalachian League consists of:

Pitcher: Mario Moreno (Danville Braves)
Catcher: Ramón Medina (Elizabethton Twins)
First Baseman: Albert Gray (Rome Braves)
Second Baseman: Christian Lopez (Johnson City Cardinals)
Third Baseman: Greg Galway (Bristol White Sox)
Shortstop: Peter Kozma (Johnson City Cardinals)
Left Fielder: Jason Elliott (Elizabethton Twins)
Center Fielder: C.J. Button (Princeton Devil Rays)
Right Fielder: Craig Smith (Kingsport Mets)
