| Breaking News |  | Taylor Selected APPY's Top Batter Saturday, September 22nd, 2012: There was nobody hotter in the Appalachian League this season as Andrew Taylor attacked enemy pitching with a vengeance and came away with the APPY MVP for 2012.
The 22-year-old right fielder hit .476 while collecting 120 hits, 16 doubles, 2 triples, 29 home runs and 106 RBIs. He also scored 80 runs and posted a .521 on-base percentage. |  | APPY's #1 Pitcher is Ward Friday, September 21st, 2012: The Bluefield clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Bob Ward will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2012 Appalachian League APPY Pitcher of the Year.
Ward made 21 starts this year, winning 15 and losing 1. He threw 125.1 innings, fanned 125, allowed 90 hits and 15 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .197 average as he logged an impressive 1.44 ERA. | | | | |
