| Breaking News |  | No Recovery For Smokies Powers, Career Ends Wednesday, October 16th, 2013: The Tennessee newspaper reported today that Smokies second baseman Ralph Powers has decided to retire from baseball due to a serious setback while recovering from a fractured right tibia. "I'm disappointed," Powers told BNN. "My worst fear is a reality and I won't be coming back to the game."
During his career Powers has hit .262 with 139 hits, 21 home runs, 74 RBIs and scored 66 runs. |  | SL's Best Hitter for 2013 Named Thursday, October 3rd, 2013: Jeff Greene, Mobile's outstanding right fielder, took home the Southern League SL MVP for 2013.
